At the Resorts World Las Vegas Saturday night, Worcester native Jamaine Ortiz beat Jamel Herring by ten round unanimous decision. Scores were 96-94, 97-93, 97-93.
With his last fight against Nahir Albright just three months ago, Ortiz remains unbeaten after Saturday night’s win.
This fight was definitely best versus the best and Otiz showed up mentally and physically on top. Ortiz, I believe, exceeded even the highest expectations in a wild war in front of a rowdy crowd from Resorts World Las Vegas.
One thing that stood out most with me was, you could see the difference between Ortiz’s last two fights and how he amped up his pressure in this fight with carefully-selected moments of engagement.
Ortiz’s punch output I think made him the dominant fighter. He was getting the better of exchanges and landing clean, hard combinations.
