Worcester Red Sox Win 7-1 Against Toledo Mud Hens

In downtown Toledo, Ohio on Wednesday afternoon the Worcester Red Sox kicked off their first game of a six-game set against the Toledo Mud Hens with a 7-1 win.

The first three innings of this contest were scoreless and then at the top of the fourth Worcester got into this game with Triston Casas hitting his sixth double of the season to drive in Jarren Duran and Jeter Downs to make it a 2-0 Worcester lead. At the top of the 5th it was Jarren Duran with the double to drive in Christin Stewart and Ronaldo Hernandez to make it a 4-0 Worcester lead. At the top of the sixth inning Jeter Downs scored to make it a 5-0 Worcester lead. The solo run of the game for the Mud Hens was Brady Policelli in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 5-1 Worcester lead. At the top of the 8th inning, Jeter Downs hit his sixth homer of the season to drive in Jaylin Davis and make it a 7-1 Worcester game.

Jeter Downs came out on top in this contest with three runs, one hit, two RBI and his sixth homer of the season. 

In seven innings on the mound Connor Seabold only allowed two hits, one run and struck out eight.

Worcester and Toledo will meet again tomorrow, Thursday to make up Tuesday’s game with a doubleheader beginning at 11:05 a.m.
