Hartford Yard Goats End Weekend Homestand With 10-8 Win Against Rumble Ponies

At Dunkin Donuts Park on Sunday, the Hartford Yard Goats claimed a 10-8 win against the Rumble Ponies to wrap up their weekend homestand.

Antoine Duplantis had the first run of the game for the Rumble Ponies at the top of the first to make it a 1-0 Rumble Ponies lead. But in the bottom of the first the Yard Goats took the lead with Willie Maclver hitting his first homer of the season and Isaac Collins scoring to make it a 1-2 Yard Goats lead.

Bottom of the third this game kicked into gear with Ezequiel Tovar hitting a double to drive in Jameson Hannah and Isaac Collins to make it a 1-4 Yard Goats lead. But the bottom of the first wasn’t over yet. Willie Maclver hit a line drive left to drive in Ezequiel Tovar, then Brenton Doyle hit a line drive right to drive in Willie Maclver and Coco Montes to make it a 1-7 Yard Goats lead.

At the top of the fourth, the Rumble Ponies had a homer and two runs to make it a 4-7 Yard Goats lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, Ezequiel Tovar hit another double, second of the game, third of the season and drove in Jameson Hannah to make it a 4-8 game.

At the top of the fifth, Matt Winaker hit a grand slam to drive in Brett Bath, Ronny Mauricio and Luke Ritter to tie the game 8-8. 

A homer by Jimmy Herron in the bottom of the seventh to drive home Brenton Doyle secured the 8-10 win for the Yard Goats.

Next the Yard Goats will head North for a six game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats who on Sunday beat the Portland Seadogs 6-2.
