Fitchburg, Massachusetts Fire Department Responds To Early Morning Structure Fire

Early Tuesday morning firefighters from Fitchburg, Ayer and Gardner responded to a structure fire at 167 Canton Street in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.

Initially firefighters responded to smoke coming from the structure but when they arrived on scene they had discovered that the fire was in the walls as well as in the basement and quickly spread to the attic. 

There were three apartments and nine people inside who were all able to safely evacuate.

The Red Cross of Massachusetts was called to assist displaced residents with housing.
