Matthew Kelly Leads Assumption To 90-70 Win Against Southern Connecticut

Tuesday night the Assumption University Greyhounds hosted Southern Connecticut State University after losing their last matchup against New Haven Jan. 22. The Greyhounds last win was against American International College Jan. 15 and they came into Tuesday night’s contest 7-6 on the season. Southern Connecticut State University is 4-8 after losing their last matchup against Stonehill.

Tuesday night, Matthew Kelly helped lead the Greyhounds to their 90-70 win with 21 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in the 34 minutes that he played. Omar El Sheikh had 18 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists. Njavan Stewart had 14 points , 5 rebounds and 1 assist. David Tiedemann got 18 minutes off the bench to get 10 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist. Jordan White had 9 points and 4 rebounds while Cooper Creek had 8 points, Isaiah Gaiter had 6 points and both Bulvydas and Doherty had 2 points.

Logan Bagshaw drove home the points Tuesday night for Southern Connecticut State University. The reserve had 23 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist. Lyron Bennett had 11 points and 3 assists. Both Seaforth and Penn had 10 points. Coleman had 9 points and both Gutowski and Chaikin had points while Elmin Redzepagic had 1 point for the game.

On Thursday night the Greyhounds will play at home against Saint Paul and Southern Connecticut State University will be on the road against Pace University.
