An investigation reveals racially offensive text messages and evidence of drug use within the Lynn Police Department. As a result of the investigation, five police officers have resigned and one police officer has been fired.
Lynn Police Department made the announcement Friday saying that the investigation has been ongoing since April by the department’s professional standards division.
The investigation was launched after Salem Police was approved to investigate domestic abuse allegations against a Lynn officer.
Lynn Chief of Police Christopher Reddy said. “We believe that the results of this investigation reflect our commitment to transparency and accountability to the people we serve. We are committed to upholding those values.”
