Boston Police Recover Loaded Firearm During Traffic Stop In Roxbury

Tonight, officers with the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force made a traffic stop in the area of 980 Harrison Avenue in Roxbury.

The reason for the traffic stop was for equipment violation and after making the traffic stop, officers became aware that the vehicle’s registration had expired.

The operator of the vehicle has been identified as Brian Freeman, 25, of Boston. After removing Freeman from the vehicle officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun equipped with a laser sight attached from inside the vehicle. Freeman was then taken into custody and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.

The charges contained in the Complaint are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
