The Worcester Red Sox, kicked off the weekend in the Canal District with a doubleheader at Polar Park On Friday against the Syracuse Mets.
Worcester came into this game getting some runs early, First it was Yairo Munoz stealing home for the 16th time this season and that was followed by Delino DeShields, Josh Ockimey, and Jeter Downs all scoring to make it a 4-0, Worcester lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, Jhonny Pereda, Jeremy Rivera, and Johan Mieses all scored to make it an 8-0, Worcester lead.
The Syracuse Mets went scoreless for four innings but turned it around in the fifth with Orlando Calixte, Mark Payton, Wilfredo Tovar, Patrick Mazeika, Wagner Lagrange and Khalil Lee all scoring to make it a 8-6, Worcester lead.
At the top of the seventh, Patrick Mazeika scored to make it an 8-7, Worcester lead. That was followed by Josh Reddick hitting a homer and getting an RBI (Wagner Lagrange and Mason Williams) to make it a 10-8, Syracuse lead.
The Syracuse Mets claimed game one of Fridays doubleheader, 10-8.
