Red Sox Pitcher Matt Barnes Placed On COVID-19 IL

Tuesday afternoon, Alex Cora told reporters that closer Matt Barnes is going on the COVID-19 IL.
Barnes was a first-time All-Star this season for the Red Sox, recording 23 saves with a 2.30 ERA over 43 innings pitched.
Another player who wasn’t named is also feeling unwell, Cora said. Barnes is vaccinated and has not tested positive for COVID-19 but has shown symptoms of the virus.
