Friday night the WooSox looked like a much different team and were alive from the start of the game.
Friday night’s starting lineup was much different than what we have been seeing. While Marcus Wilson and Jonathan Araúz were not in the starting lineup, Yairo Munoz, Jeter Downs, Josh Ockimey and Michael Gettys were in the starting lineup with the addition of Marwin Gonzalez, Jhonny Pereda, Tate Matheny, Jett Bandy, Jeremy Rivera and at the mound to start was Raynel Espinal.
Jeter Downs who was looking great during batting practice got into this game, in the first inning hitting his 8th homer of the season and batting in Yairo Munoz to make it a 2-0, WooSox game.
The Bisons Kevin Smith and Tyler White both scored in the top of the fourth to make it a 2-2, tie game.
In the Bottom of the fourth, the WooSox dominated this game with Tate Matheny scoring to make it a 3-2, WooSox game. Jett Bandy scored to make it a 4-2, WooSox game. Jeter Downs then hit a double that drove in both Jeremy Rivera and Yairo Munoz to make it a 6-2, WooSox game.
The final score Friday night at Polar Park was Worcester 6 and the Bisons 2.
Jonathan Araúz was absent from Friday nights game because he was called up to play with the Boston Red Sox. Araúz was in action with the Boston Red Sox Friday night against Tampa.
The WooSox and the Bisons will meet again on Saturday at 4:05 PM for game five of this six game homestand at Polar Park in the Canal District.
