On Thursday night at about 10:03 p.m., officers with the Boston Police Department assigned to B-3, responded to the area of Capen Street and Evans Street in Dorchester for a person shot. Upon arrival officers located a male who had been shot and he was pronounced deceased on scene by Boston EMS.
About an hour after the fatal shooting in Dorchester, at about 11:26 p.m., officers assigned to A-1 responded to a person shot at 1 Avenue De Lafayette. Upon arrival officers located a 17-year-old female who had been shot. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene by Boston EMS. After a review of surveillance video at the hotel, it was determined that 20-year-old Messiah Leggett, of Hyde Park was at the hotel and he was observed on video leaving the hotel. Officers were able to locate Leggett at which time he was in possession of a firearm. It was also determined that Leggett was in the hotel room with the victim of this fatal shooting and that while in the hotel room, Leggett was in possession of the firearm. Leggett was taken into custody on firearms charges and has been ordered held on $100,000 bail.
