On Wednesday night the Worcester Police Department hosted a city-wide crime watch meeting.
Residents from different areas of Worcester and from the different neighborhood crime watch groups attended the meeting.
Police Chief Steven M. Sargent was joined by Worcester City Manager Edward M. Augustus Jr., Mayor Joseph M. Petty, Councilor-at-Large Morris A. Bergman, Councilor-at-Large Kate Toomey and Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
City Manager Edward M. Augustus Jr. praised the men and women of the Worcester Police Department, talked about the 26 new police officers who came onto the police department over the summer and talked about how important the relationship is between the police department and the community.
Worcester Police also said during Tuesday nights meeting that the body found Tuesday morning at University Park does not appear to be suspicious.
