Trooper Charged After Ex-Girlfriend Finds Him in Her Apartment
Boston police arrested Michael McGuire, 37, after his former girlfriend said she returned to her South End apartment around 1:30 a.m. Sunday and found him lying on her bed. She told responding officers he refused to leave. McGuire was charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering.
The woman told police she and McGuire had dated for about six months and had been separated for a month. She had agreed to meet him at Barcelona Bar on Tremont Street on Halloween night. She said he was heavily intoxicated and that she told him to go home.
Their accounts differ on how he got inside. The woman believed McGuire climbed the fire escape and entered through a kitchen window. McGuire said he used a key, but she told officers he did not have one. Officers noted that the fire escape was low to the ground.
Officers said McGuire was unsteady on his feet and had a cut on his forehead. According to their report, McGuire told them he believed “the victim struck him in the head while he was sleeping” and said he was “out for two minutes.”
Massachusetts State Police confirmed to NewsTalk New England that McGuire had been relieved of duty. A source identified him as the trooper who was repeatedly punched by a fellow trooper at a Marina Bay pub in Quincy in June.
