A vehicle officers found running in the driveway had a stolen license plate; police later received a report that the vehicle itself had been stolen in Derby.
Brigham Nurses Set November 12 Strike Deadline
More than 4,000 Brigham and Women’s nurses are preparing for an open-ended strike after rejecting the hospital’s latest contract offer, the Massachusetts Nurses Association said Sunday. Talks resume November 9 with a federal mediator. If the two sides do not reach a deal, the strike will begin at 7 a.m. November 12, the union said.
“We are ready to strike but are equally prepared to negotiate a fair contract that protects patient care, respects nurses, and averts the strike,” said Kelly Morgan, a labor and delivery nurse who chairs the union’s bargaining committee at Brigham. “Brigham nurses are resolved to fight for as long as it takes for patient safety and the professional respect we deserve.”
