Elijah Jennings takes Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Tyrek Brown and Shawan Lewis share the conference’s top defensive award.
The Coastal Athletic Association announced its Week 9 football award winners Monday, November 2, recognizing five players whose performances helped their teams secure victories during Saturday’s conference action.
Monmouth sophomore running back Elijah Jennings was named Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for a career-high 175 yards and two touchdowns against Bryant.
North Carolina A&T sophomore linebacker Tyrek Brown and UAlbany senior defensive lineman Shawan Lewis shared Defensive Player of the Week honors following standout performances that included multiple forced fumbles and critical defensive stops.
Sacred Heart sophomore placekicker Ryan Bocklet received Special Teams Player of the Week honors, while Towson freshman quarterback Jacob Davis was selected as Rookie of the Week.
The awards followed a weekend featuring dramatic finishes, defensive touchdowns and dominant rushing performances across the conference.
Jennings delivered one of the weekend’s strongest offensive performances in Monmouth’s 34-21 victory over Bryant.
The Pennsauken, New Jersey, native rushed for 175 yards on 24 carries, averaging 7.3 yards per attempt.
He opened the scoring with an 18-yard touchdown run on Monmouth’s first possession and added a 37-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
It marked Jennings’ second 100-yard rushing performance in three games.
Monmouth finished with 319 rushing yards, controlling the game on the ground and extending its unbeaten conference run.
At North Carolina A&T, Brown delivered one of the most important defensive plays of the weekend.
The sophomore linebacker from Charlotte, North Carolina, recorded six solo tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and a pass breakup in the Aggies’ 13-10 victory over Elon.
His biggest contribution came with just 44 seconds remaining.
Brown recorded a strip sack, forcing a fumble that North Carolina A&T recovered at its own 21-yard line to secure the victory.
The play ended Elon’s opportunity to produce a late comeback.
North Carolina A&T’s defense held Elon to just nine first downs and 201 total yards.
Brown’s performance helped the Aggies protect a three-point lead in a game where every possession mattered.
UAlbany’s Lewis shared the defensive award after producing an outstanding performance against nationally ranked Campbell.
The senior defensive lineman from Baltimore recorded seven tackles, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two quarterback hurries in the Great Danes’ 45-35 victory over No. 12 Campbell.
Lewis recorded a first-quarter strip sack that helped produce a UAlbany touchdown.
His 3.5 sacks represented the highest single-game total by a UAlbany player during the 2026 season.
The Great Danes’ defense scored two touchdowns against Campbell, helping offset a Fighting Camels offense that generated 406 total yards.
Lewis’ ability to pressure the quarterback and force turnovers proved central to UAlbany’s victory.
Sacred Heart’s Bocklet earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors following the Pioneers’ remarkable 32-31 comeback victory at Stony Brook.
The sophomore kicker from Souderton, Pennsylvania, converted two field goals and two extra points.
Bocklet connected on a season-long 42-yard field goal in the first quarter before adding a 33-yard field goal in the second.
Those kicks gave Sacred Heart an early 6-0 advantage.
The Pioneers later overcame an 18-point fourth-quarter deficit, scoring 19 unanswered points to stun Stony Brook.
Bocklet has converted seven of eight field-goal attempts this season.
His reliability provided important points in a game ultimately decided by a single point.
Towson quarterback Davis completed the list of award winners after being named Rookie of the Week.
The freshman from New Palestine, Indiana, accounted for 325 yards of offense and three touchdowns in Towson’s 44-13 victory over Hampton.
Davis completed 19 of 26 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns, both coming during the second quarter.
He also rushed for a career-high 109 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
His rushing performance marked the first 100-yard game by a Towson player during the 2026 season.
Davis helped Towson produce 591 yards of total offense in one of the weekend’s most dominant conference victories.
The five honorees represented different ways of influencing a football game.
Jennings controlled the ground attack.
Brown secured a victory with a late defensive takeaway.
Lewis disrupted a nationally ranked opponent with relentless pressure.
Bocklet delivered crucial special-teams points in a one-point victory.
And Davis combined efficient passing with explosive rushing to lead a decisive Towson win.
With November underway and the conference race intensifying, their Week 9 performances provided another reminder that championships are shaped not only by offensive production but also by turnovers, special teams and execution in critical moments.
