Worcester – A 28-year-old man was taken into federal custody after investigators reported finding approximately three kilograms of fentanyl during a search of a Worcester apartment on Oct. 21.

Worcester Police Vice Detectives assisted Drug Enforcement Administration agents in executing a federal search warrant at 115 Clover Street. Authorities said the warrant followed an investigation into suspected fentanyl sales as the property.

Officers arrived at approximately 5:40 p.m. According to police, they knocked and identified themselves before forcing entry when no one responded.

Inside, investigators found Junior Tejada Hernandez in a bedroom. Police said the search uncovered fentanyl packaged for distribution, along with supplies used to process and package drugs.

Hernandez was taken directly from the scene into federal custody on drug-related charges. The specific charges were not listed in the information released.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and Hernandez is presumed innocent unless found guilty.
