BOSTON — A Boston man has admitted to trafficking firearms after federal investigators documented three gun sales to an undercover agent over a four-month period, including transactions carried out through associates in Boston and Roxbury.

Jairo Valdivieso, 24, pleaded guilty Wednesday, October 14, in federal court in Boston to one count of firearms trafficking and one count of engaging in the business of dealing in firearms without a license, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

Federal prosecutors said the transactions occurred between December 2025 and March 2026. On December 30, 2025, Valdivieso used two associates to sell a firearm to an undercover federal agent in Boston.

A second transaction followed on February 6, 2026, when Valdivieso again used two associates to sell a firearm to an undercover agent, this time in Roxbury.

The third sale took place on March 29, 2026, when prosecutors said Valdivieso personally sold another firearm to an undercover federal agent in Boston.

The guilty pleas resolve the two federal charges without a trial. The Justice Department’s announcement does not identify the firearms by make or model, disclose the amounts paid or describe how investigators first began examining Valdivieso’s activities.

The firearms trafficking charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. The separate charge of dealing firearms without a license carries a maximum of five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.

Those figures represent the statutory maximum penalties, not a sentence already imposed. A federal judge will determine the actual punishment after considering applicable sentencing guidelines and federal law.

U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton is presiding over the case. The Justice Department’s October 15 announcement lists a sentencing date of January 12, 2026, which predates the guilty plea and appears inconsistent with the chronology provided. The correct sentencing date was not clarified in the release.

U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and Thomas Greco, special agent in charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, announced the guilty plea.

The Boston Police Department and Massachusetts State Police assisted federal investigators. Assistant U.S. Attorney Allegra K. Flamm of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.

The federal announcement identifies three sales to an undercover agent as the basis of the conduct described. It does not allege additional transactions in the release or state that any of the firearms were later used in another crime.

Valdivieso now awaits sentencing on the two federal offenses after admitting his role in the undercover firearm transactions.
