Presley Gerber, the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, has died at 27, while New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert has died at 45. In New York City, Mayor Zohran Mamdani is also preparing to welcome President Donald Trump to Gracie Mansion for a Monday meeting.
PRESLEY GERBER DIES AT 27
Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died Sunday at the age of 27, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. The Medical Examiner report said Gerber died at a rehabilitation facility.
NEW FOUND GLORY GUITARIST CHAD GILBERT DIES AT 45
New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert died Sunday morning at the age of 45, according to his bandmates and wife, Lisa Cimorelli. “He left this world surrounded by friends and family and took his final breaths with his wife and mother by his side, just as he wished,” the band and Gilbert’s wife wrote on social media Sunday. “We are devastated and shocked by how quickly he left us, yet so grateful for how peacefully and smoothly he went.”
The statement did not disclose Gilbert’s cause of death. Gilbert had publicly discussed his cancer diagnoses, telling People magazine in April that he had been receiving treatment for adrenal cancer since 2021 and had also been diagnosed with Stage 4 adrenocortical carcinoma.
GUN FOUND INSIDE BACKPACK AT NEW BRITAIN HIGH SCHOOL
An investigation is underway after police discovered a gun inside a student’s backpack at New Britain High School on Friday. School resource officers responding to a morning disturbance found and secured the weapon, and no injuries were reported.
Police said the student carrying the backpack was removed from the school and charged accordingly, although the specific charges were not immediately clear. Authorities emphasized that there was no active threat to the broader school community.
FOUR-ALARM FIRE DAMAGES ROCKPORT HOUSE OF PIZZA
A four-alarm fire damaged the Rockport House of Pizza Sunday morning and displaced at least two families. No injuries were reported.
Police and firefighters responded to 19 Broadway Avenue around 10 a.m. following reports of a strong gas odor throughout the building. Crews arrived to find thick black smoke coming from the mixed-use property, and additional assistance was called to the scene before firefighters brought the fire under control at approximately 1 p.m. National Grid also shut off electrical service to the building.
BOSTON KIDNAPPING SUSPECT CAPTURED IN RHODE ISLAND
A Massachusetts man wanted in connection with a Boston kidnapping was located and arrested in Rhode Island Saturday night. Ysael Lara Gonzalez, 27, of Lawrence, was stopped on New London Turnpike in East Greenwich.
A Flock camera along Interstate 95 in Providence helped Rhode Island authorities locate a vehicle connected to the kidnapping after Massachusetts State Police alerted them that it had entered Rhode Island. Gonzalez faces felony assault and kidnapping charges.
TRUMP AND MAMDANI SET FOR GRACIE MANSION MEETING
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is expected to welcome President Donald Trump to Gracie Mansion Monday for a meeting focused on issues affecting New York City and New Yorkers. The mayor’s office announced the meeting Sunday, and current reporting confirms it is scheduled to take place at the mayor’s official residence.
The meeting comes as Trump is in New York during the United Nations General Assembly period. Mamdani said last week that conversations with the president have taken place both in person and by phone and would continue when there are opportunities to deliver for the city.
