Authorities in Connecticut and Massachusetts responded to several serious incidents over the weekend, including the discovery of a body in the West River near where a missing 13-year-old boy was last seen, a fatal shooting in Boston, a deadly crash in Uxbridge, and multiple violent and traffic-related investigations.
Body Found in West River
A body was found Sunday morning in the West River near the New Haven and West Haven line, close to where missing 13-year-old King Best was last seen, according to police.
Investigators said a person fishing discovered the body around 6:40 a.m. Sunday. Police said the body was found near where King Best, a 13-year-old New Haven resident, disappeared several days earlier.
Authorities said they cannot confirm the identity of the body until the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducts an autopsy.
Child on Electric Bicycle Struck by Suspected Impaired Driver
A 12-year-old riding an electrical bicycle was struck by a vehicle in Milford on Sunday, according to police.
Investigators said the boy was hit from behind by a Subaru Forester in the area of Welchs Point and Midwood Road.
Police said the operator of the Subaru was arrested for operating under the influence after not passing a field sobriety test.
Kitchen Fire Displaces Residents in Stamford
A kitchen fire in Stamford displaced seven people and sent one person to the hospital Friday night, according to Stamford Deputy Fire Chief Paul Newman.
Firefighters responded to Glenbrook Road around 9:30 p.m. and quickly contained the fire in a rear basement apartment.
Officials said one person was hospitalized, while seven residents were displaced by the fire.
Man Killed in East Boston Shooting
Boston police are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of an adult man early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to the area of 464 Meridien St. in East Boston around 1:24 a.m. after receiving a report of a person who had been shot.
Police said officers found an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not announced any arrests.
Rhode Island Man Dies After Route 146 Crash
A 26-year-old Rhode Island man died after being ejected from his vehicle during a two-car crash in Uxbridge on Saturday night, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash on Route 146 south around 10:49 p.m.
Police said the driver of a Honda Accord was thrown from the vehicle during the collision. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The driver and a passenger in the second vehicle, a Tesla, were also hospitalized and are expected to survive.
Fall River Man Charged in Somerset Double Stabbing
A Fall River man is facing attempted murder charges following a double stabbing at a hotel in Somerset on Saturday night.
Authorities said Kyle Barboza, 42, has been charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and two counts of attempted murder.
Officials said Barboza is being held on $500,000 cash bail as the investigation continues.
