Some restaurants are memorable because of the food. Others are memorable because of the location. Poseidon’s Italian Kitchen at 99 Western Ave. in Gloucester, Massachusetts, delivers both.
Located directly across the street from the ocean, this neighborhood pizza shop offers a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy your meal while taking in beautiful waterfront views. Whether you choose a table inside by the windows or sit outside, the ocean breeze and the constant flow of walkers and runners along the waterfront create the perfect New England dining experience.
We sampled two slices of Buffalo Chicken Pizza, the Lobster Ravioli, and the Fish & Chips.
The Buffalo Chicken Pizza earned an 8/10. The slices were flavorful with a nice balance of buffalo sauce, chicken and cheese, making for a solid choice if you’re looking for a quick bite.
The Lobster Ravioli was the standout of the meal, earning a 9/10. Rich, creamy and packed with seafood flavor, it was easily our favorite dish and one we’d gladly order again.
The Fish & Chips also scored an 8/10. The fish was cooked well with a crispy coating, while the fries complemented the meal nicely for a classic New England seafood lunch.
One thing we always pay attention to is cleanliness, and Poseidon’s passed that test. The restaurant was bright, clean and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The staff was friendly, helpful and made us feel right at home throughout our visit.
Gloucester itself is part of what makes this restaurant special. The city’s waterfront charm, friendly people and beautiful ocean views make it a destination worth visiting, and Poseidon’s Italian Kitchen fits right into that experience.
