GRAFTON, Mass. — A tractor-trailer caught fire Tuesday morning on the eastbound Massachusetts Turnpike in Grafton, prompting a response from the Grafton Fire Department.
Firefighters were dispatched to mile marker 102 east after receiving a report of a tractor-trailer unit on fire.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found the tractor-trailer fully involved in flames.
Firefighters immediately began suppression efforts and had water on the fire shortly after arriving.
According to the Grafton Fire Department, crews brought the fire under control within minutes of reaching the scene.
The driver safely exited the tractor-trailer before firefighters arrived.
Officials said there were no injuries.
The trailer was not carrying any cargo at the time of the fire.
As a precaution, the Westborough Fire Department was requested to respond.
Westborough units were later returned by command after the situation was assessed and additional assistance was determined to be unnecessary.
Firefighters remained at the scene after the fire was brought under control to complete their operations.
The cause of the fire was not released, and no additional information was immediately available.
