Webster – On Wednesday, April 1, at 2:21 p.m., officers and detectives from the Webster Police Department responded to the area of Crystal Street near Slater Street following reports of gunfire.
Multiple witnesses reported observing a male suspect discharging a handgun before fleeing and briefly concealing himself behind nearby trees. The incident prompted a significant law enforcement response due to the timing, as it coincided with local school bus drop-offs in the area.
Out of an abundance of caution, school officials were notified, and the bus stop on Crystal Street was temporarily held until officers confirmed the area was secure.
Police units arrived within moments and began canvassing the area for the suspect. Based on witness accounts, investigators determined the individual likely fled on foot through the North Village apartment complex toward North Main Street.
Additional resources, including a K9 unit and a drone team, were deployed to assist in the search. Officers from the Dudley and Oxford Police Departments also responded to support the operation.
Despite an extensive search lasting more than two hours, the suspect was not located.
