DERRY, NH — Emergency crews responded Monday afternoon to a fully involved vehicle fire on Interstate 93 northbound in Derry.
At approximately 1:48 p.m., the Derry Fire Communication Center received multiple reports of a passenger vehicle on fire near mile marker 6.6. New Hampshire State Police also reported receiving calls indicating the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.
Upon arrival, first responders observed heavy smoke in the area of the exit ramp and confirmed that the vehicle was fully involved while positioned in the breakdown lane. The occupant had safely exited the vehicle prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
Fire crews from Windham Fire Rescue responded to the scene, with command established shortly after arrival. Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack, with additional water supply provided by responding units to bring the blaze under control.
State Police assisted with traffic management as two lanes of the highway were temporarily shut down during firefighting operations and cleanup efforts.
The fire was ultimately extinguished, and crews remained on scene to conduct overhaul operations before reopening the roadway.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not been released.
