Webster – A 21-year-old Webster man is facing multiple serious charges following an incident that led to a police pursuit and a temporary school lockdown on Thursday, March 26.
According to the Webster Police Department, officers were initially assisting a resident in serving a protective order when they learned the subject, Jayvyn Guadalupe, had been seen on a security camera allegedly displaying what appeared to be a firearm.
Officers began searching the area after determining Guadalupe was not at the residence and could be armed. Additional officers quickly responded to assist.
Police located Guadalupe on Lincoln Street, where officers attempted to take him into custody. Authorities say he resisted and fled on foot, shedding his jacket as he ran.
During the pursuit, Guadalupe ran onto the property of St. Joseph’s School as students were being dismissed. School staff immediately recognized the danger and secured students inside, initiating a lockdown as officers continued the chase.
Police say Guadalupe discarded items during the pursuit, including knives and a backpack, while officers worked to secure the area. He was ultimately apprehended after a brief foot chase with assistance from multiple responding officers.
Following his arrest, officers recovered a Polymer 80 9mm handgun believed to have been discarded during the pursuit. Authorities stated the firearm had no serial number, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun,” and was loaded with a high-capacity magazine and a round in the chamber. Investigators reported that Guadalupe does not possess a license to carry firearms.
Officials credited the quick actions of school staff and the coordinated police response with preventing what could have been a far more serious outcome.
Guadalupe faces numerous charges, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm on school grounds, possession of a large capacity feeding device, assault-related offenses, vandalism, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest.
He was arraigned in Dudley District Court and is being held pending a dangerousness hearing.
