Athol – Athol Elementary School proudly welcomes local first responders, healthcare professionals, and educators into classrooms to connect directly with students for Community Helpers Week.
Officers Doug Kaczmarczyk, Courtney Call, and Paul Forand from the Athol Police Department visited to discuss the role of law enforcement in keeping the community safe. Officers spoke with students about safety awareness, responsibility, and how police officers serve and protect families throughout Athol. The interactive sessions allowed students to ask questions and gain a better understanding of public safety work.

Firefighter Hamilton and two additional firefighters are engaging students in discussions about fire prevention and emergency response. Students learned about firefighter protective gear, fire engines, and essential safety procedures. The visit reinforced critical fire safety education in a supportive and appropriate manner.
Nurse Heather from the ACES Nurse’s Office met with students to discuss health, hygiene, and the importance of caring for their bodies. Her visit highlighted the vital role school nurses play in maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.
The ACES teacher visited classrooms to share what students can expect next year. They spoke about daily routines, learning activities, and the transition into kindergarten, helping students feel confident and excited about this important milestone.
Community Helpers Week provided meaningful opportunities for students to engage directly with the professionals who serve and support the Athol community. Through these interactions, students gained valuable insight into civic responsibilities, teamwork, and service.
