Springfield – At 12:15 am on Feb 27, the Springfield Police Department Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU), under the direction of Sgt Evan Donermeyer, Arrested Alex Rosa, 18, of Springfield, and recovered a loaded firearm following a traffic stop.
Rosa was being investigated by FIU detectives for an extended period in connection with the illegal possession of a firearm. Thursday, Feb. 26, detectives developed information indicating Rosa had a gun.
A motor vehicle stop was conducted by detectives in West Springfield near the intersection of Main Street and Carew Street, where Rosa was located. During the stop, officers found a firearm on the passenger-side floorboard where Rosa had been seated. He was taken into custody without incident. Other occupants of the vehicle were released.
Rosa is charged with carrying a firearm without a license and carrying a loaded firearm without a license. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
