Police Arrest Local Man for Alleged Child Abuse and Court Order Violations

Milton, NY – Thomas P. Newkirk, 32, is facing multiple charges following an investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse and violations of court orders.
According to the investigators, information was received on Feb. 4, regarding a past sexual assault of a child under the age of 14 in the summer of 2025, while an active court-issued order of protection was in place.
Newkirk allegedly violated court-issued stay-away orders protecting three children during the same period. Troopers placed him under arrest at his residence and transported him to SP Saratoga for processing. He was arraigned in Milton Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
Newkirk was charged with Criminal Contempt in the 1st degree (Class E Felony), Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Three Counts of Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A Misdemeanor)
He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
