Boston – At around 3 A.M, officers of the B-3 District identified and arrested 19-year-old Abrao De Melo Semedo Miranda, of Dorchester, following a foot pursuit in the Range Road area of Mattapan.
On Feb. 20, patrols increased in the area due to two ShotSpotter activations. During this time, officers observed De Melo Semedo Miranda walking along the sidewalk. He changed his direction upon noticing a marked cruiser in the area and moved to a nearby driveway. He attempted to conceal himself between a residence and a parked vehicle just before jumping on a fence and fleeing on foot.
As De Melo Semedo Miranda was running, officers observed him grabbing the front of his waistband. Additional officers arrive to assist in the search. He was later located lying face down beside a residence on Range Road and was taken into custody.
The police K9 unit responded to the scene and was able to recover a firearm along the path Del Melo Semedo Miranda fled. It was identified as a Glock 19 handgun loaded with seven rounds.
Del Melo Semedo Miranda is facing multiple charges, including carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification (FID) Card, trespassing, and resisting arrest.
He will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court and presumed innocent until proven guilty.
This remains under investigation.
