A 31-year-old Worcester man is expected to survive after being shot Monday evening near Water Street in Worcester, according to police.
At approximately 6:10 p.m., Worcester Police officers and detectives responded to the area of Water Street and Harrison Street for a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers located the wounded man inside The Broadway Restaurant, located at 100 Water Street, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was transported to a local hospital, where he is expected to recover.
Initial reports indicated that the shooting may have taken place inside the restaurant. However, after further investigation, detectives determined that the man had been shot nearby at 118 Water Street before entering the restaurant seeking help.
Police described the incident as isolated and said there is no immediate threat to the public. No suspects had been identified as of Monday night, and the investigation remains active.
