The Vermont Catamounts hosted Dean College (Franklin, MA) in their season opener at the Roy L. Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington, VT on Tuesday. It was the first time in Dean College history that their women’s basketball team played against a Division I opponent.

Vermont jumped on them fast and often in this game, jumping out to a 16-0 lead before Dean scored their first points. By the end of the first quarter, they led 32-6. By the end of the half, it was a 65-13 lead for Vermont.

In the end, the Catamounts set a school record for most points in a game – and probably the record for the biggest margin of victory – as they went on to win by a final score of 137-31. This included another record of points in a single quarter as they scored 42 in the third.

Nine players scored in double figures for Vermont, lead by Nikola Priede, who scored 20 points off 10/12 shooting.

Vermont will be back on the court on Saturday as they host Saint Anselm (Manchester, NH). Tip-off is scheduled for noon ET.
