SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS — A Sunday morning patrol in Springfield’s Fort Pleasant Avenue area ended with the arrest of a 27-year-old man caught with a loaded gun in his fanny pack, police said.
Members of the Springfield Police C3 Unit, led by Sergeant Jacob Werbicki, were on foot patrol around 10:10 a.m. on Nov. 2 when they spotted a man loitering and smoking a marijuana joint in public — a violation of city ordinance.
Officers approached the suspect, identified as Jahleo Paquin of Springfield, to issue a warning. That’s when they discovered a loaded firearm inside his fanny pack, according to investigators.
Paquin was immediately arrested and charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, loitering, and consuming marijuana in a public place.
