BRIDGEPORT, CT. — The University of Bridgeport’s unbeaten CACC streak stayed alive Saturday night, but the Purple Knights had to settle for another draw — a 1-1 grind against Holy Family at Knights Field.
It was a night that started fast and furious. In the 21st minute, Joao Miranda turned a routine possession into a highlight reel moment, slicing through four defenders and unleashing a missile into the upper-left corner. A one-man show. A statement strike.
But before Bridgeport could settle into control, Holy Family struck back just two minutes later. Ned Lewis got free in the box and headed home a pinpoint cross from Luiz Recchimuzzi to level the score.
From there, it was 67 minutes of frustration. The Purple Knights dominated possession, outshooting the Tigers 17-10 and hammering the corners 8-4 — including a lopsided 6-0 edge in the second half — but couldn’t find a finishing touch.
Goalkeeper Viktor Mašek did his job, locking down the back line with three saves in 90 minutes. Holy Family’s keeper matched him stop for stop as both sides dug in.
Bridgeport walks away with another result, but not the win they wanted — moving to 3-0-5 in the CACC, 3-4-7 overall. The offense showed flashes of brilliance early, but the night ended in frustration.
