Halloween hits the heart of Massachusetts this weekend as the Worcester Red Sox host their fifth annual “Trick-or-Treat at Polar Park” on Sunday, October 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. The best part — it’s completely free. No tickets, no fuss, just candy, costumes, and community fun at the ballpark.
The WooSox are once again turning Polar Park into a Halloween haven. The club’s Central MASScots — Smiley Ball, Woofster the WonderDog, Roberto the Rocket, and Clara, the Heart of the Commonwealth — will be out in full force, taking pictures, signing autographs, handing out candy, and judging costumes. Fans can find them spread throughout Lucchino Lane, the 8th Hill, Plymouth Street, and Summit Street, including the Plymouth Street Playground presented by C.C.U.A.
Kids and families can expect all the Halloween essentials: free apple cider, cookies, and plenty of candy courtesy of Shaw’s Supermarkets. The ballpark will also feature Halloween photo backdrops, arts and crafts tables, and pumpkin-decorating stations, all set to a soundtrack mixed for both spooky season and October baseball vibes.
Entrance is through Fallon Health Square at Gate A, behind the Rockland Trust Plaza at 45 Green Street. Once inside, fans can grab a bite at A Taste of Worcester on Summit Street, where hamburgers, hot dogs, soft pretzels, hot chocolate, and Polar Beverages will be available for purchase. Adults 21 and over can enjoy alcoholic beverages while the kids load up on sweets.
The costume contest returns with four categories — most original, most elaborate, most Worcesterish, and most baseball-oriented — with judging starting around 5:30 p.m. A limited number of pumpkins will also be available for $5, with prizes for Best WooSox Pumpkin, Best Worcester Pumpkin, and Most Creative Pumpkin Art.
Trick-or-Treat at Polar Park has become a fan favorite, drawing families from across Central Massachusetts each year. It’s free, festive, and exactly the kind of community celebration Worcester knows how to do right.
