Northeast Studs & Duds – NFL Week 1

Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills – The man is a video-game. 394 passing yards, two touchdowns through the air, two on the ground, and fourth-quarter heroics flip a 15-point hole into a 41-40 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Allen becomes the first quarterbacl ever to throw for 250+ yards and rush for two scores in a single quarter. MVP case? Already in progress.

Harold Landry III, LB, New England Patriots – Landry recorded two and a half sacks in his Patriots debut. The Patriots’ pass-rush nightmare, still lethal.

Kayshon Boutte, WR, Patriots – Back-to-back 100-yard games after closing last season strong. First Patriots player with an opening-day 100-yard game since Rob Gronkowski in 2018.

Justin Fields, QB, New York Jets – 218 passing yards, 48 rushing yards, three total touchdowns in his Jets debut, the most rushing yards by a Jets quarterbacm in a season opener ever. Rookie-friendly field, Fields making history.

Breece Hall, RB, Jets – 107 rushing yards, 38 receiving yards, 145 total. Sixth 100+ scrimmage game of his career, proving he’s more than a one-trick pony.

Ed Oliver, DT, Buffalo Bills – A career night with six tackles, three for loss, and a crucial forced fumble late to set up the game-winning drive.

Zay Flowers, WR, Ravens – Career-high 143 yards receiving. If the Ravens can’t stop him, who can?

DUDS

Derrick Henry, RB, Ravens – A historic night on paper: 169 yards, two touchdowns, including a 46-yard scamper. But that fumble late in the fourth quarter? Cost Baltimore the game. Oops.

Buffalo Bills, Offense on Two-Point Conversions – 0-for-3. Maybe practice these a bit more? Even Allen can’t save you from two-point woes.

New York Giants, Offense – six points, zero touchdowns. Gano’s field goals impressive, but the offense needs more than bootleg 50-yard bombs to stay competitive.

Patriots Rookies (some) – Roster full of new faces saw action, but aside from a few studs like Boutte and Landry, some didn’t make noise. Learning curve remains.

Raiders Ground Game – Limited to 56 rushing yards on 24 carries, the lowest total allowed by Patriots since 2023. Ouch.
