WPI men’s soccer sophomore goalkeeper Savio Ketnouvong (Paxton, MA) made a statement in net this week, earning the NEWMAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 7. Ketnouvong’s flawless performances helped the Engineers maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Across more than 160 minutes of action, Ketnouvong posted two clean sheets. He kicked things off with a two-save shutout in WPI’s 2-0 victory over Anna Maria, then turned aside all four shots on target in a weather-shortened 0-0 draw against RPI. For the week, he tallied six saves, a perfect 1.000 save percentage, and a 0.00 goals-against average, anchoring a defense that has been rock-solid through three early-season contests.

This marks both WPI’s first weekly honor of 2025 and Ketnouvong’s first career NEWMAC weekly recognition.

WPI (2-0-1) returns to action Tuesday, September 9, at Dean at 3:30 p.m., before traveling to Montclair State on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
