Miguel Francisco Guzman, 30, of Woodbridge, New Jersey, was hit with federal charges in New Haven, Connecticut, including child exploitation and drug distribution.

A grand jury returned the indictment on September 4, and Guzman has been in custody since his arrest on August 12.

He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas O. Farrish, pleaded not guilty, and was ordered detained.

According to court documents, Guzman began messaging a child under 13 on Snapchat in March 2025, soliciting sexually explicit images and sending explicit images of himself.

Guzman then traveled to Connecticut to engage in sexual conduct with the minor and provided the child with cocaine.

Investigators say Guzman also attempted to solicit other minors for sexual images and encounters between March and May 2025.

Guzman faces one count each of enticement of a minor and attempted enticement, each carrying a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison, plus one count of distributing a controlled substance to a person under 21, which carries one to 40 years.
