Fouodzing Mbord, 49, of Maryland, was sentenced in Superior Court for physically abusing a vulnerable adult in his care last November. Mbord, a home health aide, pleaded guilty on August 29 to one count of abuse of a vulnerable adult – injure or threat to injure.
The government recommended 180 days in jail, but Superior Court Judge Errol Arthur suspended the sentence and placed Mbord on one year of probation.
According to authorities, Mbord was caring for a bedridden adult who required 24-hour assistance. Security cameras installed by the victim’s sister showed Mbord striking the man on his backside on November 12 while cleaning him. When confronted, Mbord said the victim had passed gas in his face and threatened to hit him again if it happened.
On November 16, the footage showed him raising his hand to strike the naked victim. Mbord was arrested the next day.
