A drive-by shooting in the Bronx on Monday night left five men injured, with one victim, 25, dead, authorities said.
Police said the shooting began when two men jumped out of a car and opened fire on a group at the corner of Allerton and Olinville Avenues. The suspects attempted to flee but crashed a short distance away near Arnow and Hone Avenues, where their vehicle struck a house and a minivan, totaling the smaller vehicle.
At least three guns were recovered at the crash scene, and a 24-year-old suspect was arrested. In total, police apprehended five individuals connected to the shooting.
The incident occurred amid a citywide NYPD deployment of more than a thousand officers to high-crime neighborhoods.
Residents placed a few candles at the site of the shooting, marking the beginning of a memorial for the 25-year-old who was killed.
