Game 1 – Tuesday, Aug. 12 – 7:38 PM EDT
Matchup: RHP Tyler Uberstine (2–3, 3.36) vs. RHP Chris Kachmar (1–3, 6.62)
Worcester’s leadoff duo of Nick Sogard and Jhostynxon Garcia is positioned to strike early against a starter with a 6.62 ERA. Garcia’s power surge in August could immediately test Iowa’s outfield gaps. Uberstine’s command-heavy approach should keep Iowa in check until the middle innings. Expect Worcester to break through in the 3rd or 4th, building a cushion for the bullpen.
Predicted Key Moment: Garcia launches a two-run shot in the 4th to flip momentum.
Projected Result: WooSox win 6–3.
Game 2 – Wednesday, Aug. 13 – 1:08 PM EDT
Matchup: LHP Kyle Harrison (3–2, 3.96) vs. RHP Jameson Taillon (0–1, 9.39, MLB rehab)
Harrison’s strikeout stuff should play well in a daytime start. Taillon will likely be on a limited pitch count, forcing Iowa to lean on its bullpen early. Worcester’s midweek dominance (12–4 on Tuesdays) historically carries over to Wednesdays, and Kristian Campbell’s bat could be a difference-maker.
Predicted Key Moment: Campbell ropes a bases-clearing double in the 6th to put the game out of reach.
Projected Result: WooSox win 5–2.
Game 3 – Thursday, Aug. 14 – 7:38 PM EDT
Matchup: LHP Connelly Early (1–0, 2.08) vs. RHP Will Sanders (7–0, 4.61)
Early has been excellent in limited Triple-A work, but Sanders’ perfect record signals he can pitch with traffic. Iowa may scrape a couple runs early if Worcester’s defense wobbles, but the WooSox lineup should still find late-inning opportunities.
Predicted Key Moment: A 7th-inning defensive miscue opens the door for Iowa to retake the lead.
Projected Result: Iowa wins 4–3.
Game 4 – Friday, Aug. 15 – 8:08 PM EDT
Matchup: RHP Richard Fitts (2–1, 4.00) vs. RHP Spencer Turnbull (0–2, 9.96)
This looks like a hitting showcase for Worcester. Turnbull’s struggles plus Fitts’ ability to generate ground balls set the stage for an early lead. Sogard and Garcia should see plenty of baserunners ahead of Campbell and Nate Eaton.
Predicted Key Moment: Trayce Thompson drives a hanging slider over the left-center wall in the 2nd, igniting a 5-run inning.
Projected Result: WooSox win 8–4.
Game 5 – Saturday, Aug. 16 – 7:08 PM EDT
Matchup: LHP Payton Tolle (0–1, 9.00) vs. RHP Connor Noland (9–3, 3.70)
Worcester’s Saturday record (4–14) is a glaring concern, and Tolle is still finding his footing in Triple-A. Noland’s control and ability to induce weak contact could frustrate the WooSox bats.
Predicted Key Moment: A bases-loaded double in the 5th by Iowa’s Moisés Ballesteros turns the game.
Projected Result: Iowa wins 6–2.
Game 6 – Sunday, Aug. 17 – 2:08 PM EDT
Matchup: RHP Tyler Uberstine vs. RHP Chris Kachmar (rematch)
With both pitchers already having faced each lineup earlier in the week, adjustments will be key. Worcester’s bats, particularly Garcia and Campbell, should benefit from second looks at Kachmar’s arsenal.
Predicted Key Moment: Garcia ropes a game-breaking triple into the right-field corner in the 7th to seal the series.
Projected Result: WooSox win 5–3.
Series Projection:
Worcester wins 4–2, taking Games 1, 2, 4, and 6. Garcia extends his hitting streak, Sogard sets the table, and Campbell adds timely power.
