Fall River, Mass. — Week One of the Fall River Police Department’s Teen Police Academy began Monday with 22 students participating in a full day of physical training and classroom instruction.
The day opened with a physical training evaluation, which included a 1.5-mile run, push-ups, and sit-ups. The assessment was designed to introduce participants to the physical expectations of law enforcement training and help set a tone of discipline and determination for the weeks ahead.
Following the PT session, students transitioned into the classroom for ALICE training — which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. The program is intended to help students understand how to respond in emergency situations, including active threats, through scenario-based learning and critical safety planning.
The Teen Police Academy offers young people a first-hand look into law enforcement procedures and responsibilities, and will continue in the coming weeks with additional training sessions and activities.
