Boston, MA — Between Thursday, July 10, and Sunday, July 13, 2025, Boston Police officers recovered four illegal firearms and made multiple arrests across the city in connection with various incidents ranging from a traffic stop and trespassing to reports of armed individuals. The arrests spanned several neighborhoods including Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, and Mattapan, highlighting ongoing efforts to reduce gun violence citywide.
Traffic Stop Leads to Firearm Recovery in Dorchester
On Sunday, July 13, at approximately 12:50 a.m., officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested 38-year-old Anthony Rainey of Boston on firearm and motor vehicle charges. Officers conducting a directed patrol observed a vehicle with excessive window tint and tinted license plate covers on Page Street. The vehicle failed to stop at a sign and was driving erratically when officers initiated a traffic stop at 1 Franklin Park Road.
Rainey exhibited evasive behavior and refused to fully roll down his window. Upon exiting the vehicle, he continued to conceal his left side. A pat frisk revealed a loaded Ruger .380 CCP with six rounds in the magazine in his left pocket. Rainey was taken into custody and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on multiple charges including carrying a firearm without a license (third offense), OUI-Liquor, resisting arrest, and firearm violations with prior convictions.
14-Year-Old Arrested with Loaded Firearm in Jamaica Plain
Later that morning at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) observed a large group gathered outside 920 Parker Street in Jamaica Plain. After noticing three individuals clutching their waistbands and behaving suspiciously, officers attempted to engage them. All three fled, resulting in a foot chase. One suspect, a 14-year-old male, was apprehended at 954 Parker Street.
A loaded Taurus G3 was recovered from the teen’s waistband, containing one round in the chamber and four rounds in a 17-round magazine. The juvenile was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm, and possession of ammunition without an FID card. He also had two active warrants for assault and battery on a police officer and property vandalism.
Four Arrested, Firearm Found in Car at Mattapan School Parking Lot
On Friday, July 11, at around 7:44 p.m., District B-3 officers responded to reports of an erratic vehicle in the faculty parking lot of 100 Hebron Street in Mattapan. Officers observed a vehicle with four occupants parked under clearly posted “No Trespassing” signs. One of the rear passengers was seen reaching toward the trunk.
The driver failed to produce a valid license, and the vehicle’s registration was expired. After removing all occupants and conducting a motor vehicle inventory prior to towing, officers recovered a loaded Smith & Wesson M&P Shield from the trunk with twelve rounds in a 15-round capacity magazine.
All four individuals were arrested and are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. Charges include firearm offenses and trespassing. Jaden Falesbroke, 22, of Dorchester, faces multiple weapons charges including possession of a large capacity feeding device and carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds. A 17-year-old juvenile female was also charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Gun Recovered in Mattapan Following Person with Gun Call
On Thursday, July 10, at approximately 11:46 p.m., officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a 911 call reporting a man with a gun threatening someone near 90 Glenway Street. Upon arrival, officers located and detained the suspect, 26-year-old Kewan Burton-Strong of Boston, who matched the description.
A pat frisk revealed a Colt .32 caliber firearm in his waistband, loaded with one round in the chamber and six in the magazine. Burton-Strong is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for carrying a firearm without a license (second offense), carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without an FID card (subsequent offense).
