This week, the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) proudly launched “Line ‘Em Up,” an innovative nationwide initiative designed to bridge the gap between the women’s professional game and local communities. This program focuses on painting the official WNBA 3-point line on basketball courts in parks across the United States, making the women’s game more accessible to aspiring players and fans alike. In addition to enhancing these park venues, the WNBA will also contribute financial donations to support the renovations and maintenance of participating basketball courts.

The initiative is crafted to foster more inclusive environments that encourage girls and women to showcase their skills on the court, while also shining a light on the league’s enduring commitment to community building, enhancing visibility, and advocating for representation in public spaces where young athletes gather to hone their craft.

To kick off the campaign, the WNBA hosted a special launch event on Thursday evening at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 2, a picturesque location overlooking the Manhattan skyline.

The event featured a diverse range of activities, including inspiring opening remarks from WNBA Chief Marketing Officer Phil Cook and WNBA Head of League Operations Bethany Donaphin, who shared the vision and goals of the initiative.

Attendees were treated to special appearances by members of the New York Liberty, who engaged with local fans and players, and a dynamic 5-on-5 basketball game that showcased two local New York basketball organizations, emphasizing community involvement and sportsmanship.
