Friday at Essex County Superior Court in Salem, Massachusetts, a Lynn, Massachusetts man pled guilty to a 2024 bank robbery in Lynn.
Cesar Rivera, 40, of Lynn, on Friday appeared before Judge Thomas Drechsler at Essex County Superior Court in Salem, and pleaded guilty in connection to a robbery at Eastern Bank on 112 Market Street in Lynn on October 26, 2024 shortly after 9 a.m.
Lynn Police responded to a 911 call and were told that Rivera had passed a note to a bank teller with a bomb threat and a demand for cash. He then left the bank on foot and eventually fled in a taxi.
Detectives with the Lynn Police Department were able to identify and locate Rivera in the taxi during a traffic stop in Lynn’s Curwin Circle, at which point they arrested him and recovered approximately $17,000 cash.
Rivera pled guilty to making a bomb threat, larceny in an amount exceeding $1,200, and intimidation to steal from a depository of money.
Judge Drechsler sentenced Rivera to three to five years in state prison followed by three years of probation.
