CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 26, 2025) – The New England Revolution continued their red-hot form on Saturday night, notching a third consecutive shutout victory with a 1-0 triumph over Eastern Conference leaders Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium. Midfielder Carles Gil delivered the decisive blow in the 77th minute, curling home the game-winning goal and handing Charlotte their first home loss of the 2025 season.

With the win, New England (4-4-1; 13 points) has won four of its last five matches and matched a club record by allowing only seven goals through the first nine games, a feat last achieved in 2005.

The Revolution showed resilience and patience when facing a Charlotte (6-3-1; 19 points) side that entered the night with a perfect 5-0-0 home record and an eight-match home winning streak. After a cagey first half, New England applied consistent pressure in the second, eventually breaking through when Luca Langoni found Gil at the top of the box. The Spaniard, the Revolution’s leading scorer, bent a beautiful left-footed shot past Kristijan Kahlina to seal the points.

Gil, celebrating his 175th start across all competitions for New England, has been on a tear, tallying four goals and one assist over the last five matches. His latest strike marked his third game-winning goal of the campaign.

New England’s defensive unit once again stood tall. Goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič made four crucial saves en route to his fourth clean sheet of the season. Center backs Mamadou Fofana, Brayan Ceballos, and North Carolina native Tanner Beason anchored the backline, with homegrown talent Peyton Miller earning his fifth straight start at left back.

Saturday also marked a pair of major milestones for the Revolution. Midfielder Matt Polster made his 200th MLS regular-season start, completing an impressive 95.7 percent of his passes, while forward Ignatius Ganago made the 200th professional club appearance of his career.

New England nearly took the lead earlier in the second half when Ganago slotted home a finish off a lofted pass from Gil, but the goal was ruled offside. It wouldn’t matter in the end, as Gil’s magic ultimately made the difference.

The Revolution’s strong defensive streak now stands at 295 minutes without conceding a goal. With Saturday’s win, New England improved to 5-2-0 all-time against Charlotte and evened its 2025 road record at 2-2-1.

Next up, the Revolution head to Canada for an Eastern Conference clash against Toronto FC on Saturday, May 3, at BMO Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET, with broadcasts available via MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app, 98.5 The Sports Hub in English, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA in Portuguese.
