New York Red bulls kick off their new campaign at the newly named Sports Illustrated Stadium formally known as Red Bull Arena with a 2-0 win against Nashville SC.
Mohammed Sofo made his first MLS start and to make it even more special he also scored his first MLS goal seven minutes into the game to give the Red Bulls the first points of the new campaign. In the twelfth minute of the first half Red Bulls player Omar Valencia received his first yellow card of the season.
Bulls take a 2-0 lead as the captain Emil Forsberg strikes it with the right foot over the goalkeeper, he was assisted by Valencia in the 30th minute. Forsberg is coming off a great start as he continues were he left off last season. The Red bulls honored long time goalkeeper Ryan Meara on a great career.
Red Bulls are looking for their second win as they make their first road game of the season traveling to Atlanta to take on Atlanta United, Sat, March 8th. Kickoff slated for 7:30PM ETD.
