In the early morning hours on January 28, a passenger who was asleep on a southbound No. 2 train in New York City. That passenger, a 46-year male was across from 54-year Angel Alvarado, of Harlem who approached the man and began repeatedly stabbing him, and then dragged him through the door of the moving train in between two cars.
When the train eventually stopped at West 96th Street and Broadway, passengers aboard the train alerted the conductor, and eventually, the NYPD responded and arrested Alvarado.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., confirmed Monday that Alvarado has been indicted in a New York State Supreme court indictment, and is charged with one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree; one count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree; one count of Assault in the Second Degree; and three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.
The victim was transported to Mt Sinai Morningside Hospital in stable condition and treated for stab wounds on his neck, head, back, shoulder, and arm.
Alvarado was arrested in 1989 for grand larceny in 1992 in connection to four robberies, in June of 2016 for petit larceny, and in August of 2019 for criminal mischief.
