1 Person Dead, 1 Areested Following Motor Vehicle Accident In Thompson, New York

Early Saturday morning, just before 1:00 AM, New York State Police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Glen Wild Road near the intersection of Pine Tree Road in the town of Thompson, New York. 

New York State Police said, Sadia K. Thomas, 31, of Woodridge, New York, was traveling northbound on Glen Wild Road when he struck a pedestrian.

That pedestrian, New York State Police has identified as Vanessa M. Hopper age 29, of Liberty, New York. She was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, New York, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Thomas was arrested and has been charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by a Combination of Alcohol/ Drugs (Misdemeanor) and Vehicular Manslaughter Second Degree (D felony).
