The owner of a spa in Auburn, Massachusetts, has been arrested for witness intimidation by the Auburn Police Department.

Chengan Zhu, a 52-year-old resident of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, was arrested following a disturbing incident that occurred on October 6, 2024, at the Health Spa located at 385 Southbridge Street. The Auburn Police were called to the Health Spa after receiving reports of a disturbance at the establishment.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman in her thirties who had made the 911 call. This woman, identified as a customer at the spa, revealed during police interviews that she had paid for a massage, which took a troubling turn when the masseur allegedly forced her to engage in inappropriate physical contact. This prompted the involvement of Auburn Police Detectives, who conducted an in-depth investigation that culminated in the arrest of a 22-year-old man from Shrewsbury in connection with the incident.

Following the initial investigation, detectives uncovered that Zhu, the owner of the Health Spa, allegedly attempted to influence the victim’s decision not to report the incident to the authorities. Specifically, he is accused of offering the victim a sum of money in an effort to bribe her. Recognizing the seriousness of these actions, the detectives applied for an arrest warrant.

As a result of their investigation, a warrant was granted, and Zhu was arrested at the Health Spa without incident.
