A fugitive wanted in New Hampshire was arrested Friday morning in South Boston by the USMS Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force, Mass. State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, and Boston Police Department Fugitive Unit.
Anthony Clark, 41, an inmate at the Belknap County jail on pretrial detention, was receiving treatment at Concord Hospital – Laconia when he removed an ankle bracelet around 1:00 a.m. on July 28, and fled the area.
Police in Laconia, New Hampshire, responded to the hospital when someone found the ankle bracelet near the hospital, and law enforcement confirmed that the bracelet belonged to Clark.
The US Attorney’s Office for New Hampshire confirmed that when Clark removed the ankle bracelet there was a tamper alert.
Clark was facing trial on state charges for assault, domestic violence, strangulation, witness tampering, and violating a protective order. In July 2024, he was released on conditions to the Concord Hospital in Laconia, New Hampshire, for medical procedures, and had the electronic ankle bracelet to monitor his location.
The U.S. Marshal’s New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force said, “Tips developed by the NHTF and Belknap County Sheriff’s Office led investigators to an apartment on Logan Way in South Boston. Clark, who did not immediately surrender to the arrest team, was eventually found in a back bedroom. Clark was compliant with officers once encountered and arrested without further incident.” They added, “Authorities believed Clark was making efforts to flee to California at the time of his arrest.”
“I commend the excellent collaborate work performed by everyone involved in the swift apprehension of a violent man,” stated U.S. Marshal Bill Hart, who also wants to recognize the public assistance that help lead to the arrest.
Clark is now facing a new charge in the U.S. District Court in Concord, New Hampshire, for violating the Fugitive Felon Act.
