The Worcester Red Sox hosted the Rochester Red Wings in the second game of the series at Polar Park in Worcester, MA on Wednesday evening. The Red Wings took the opening the game of the series 11-4 over the WooSox. Grant Gambrell (3-6, 3.93 ERA) took the mound for Worcester in this game.

Rochester scored the first run of the game with two outs in the top of the first inning as Travis Blankenhorn scored on an RBI double to center field from Juan Yepez. s

Despite leadoff man Chase Meidroth getting to third base with no outs, the WooSox were unable to put any points on the board as the next three batters struck out swinging.

Down to their final strike in the bottom of the second inning, Marc Contreras would triple to center field, allowing Corey Rosier to score and tie the game at 1. They would take their first lead of the game on a solo shot from Nathan Hickey in the bottom of the third.

Rochester would take the lead right back in the top of the fourth as Riley Adams knocked a three-run homer out to center field to give the Red Wings a 4-2 lead.

With one out in the bottom of the fifth, Matthew Lugo hit a two-run homer to tie the game at 4. Riley Adams would hit his second home run of the game in the top of the sixth inning to give Rochester a 5-4 lead. The WooSox would once again tie the game on an RBI double from Nick Sogard, allowing Chase Meidroth to score.

The Red Wings re-took the lead on a solo shot from Juan Yepez in the top of the seventh inning, giving them a 6-5 lead. Eddy Alverez would score on an RBI single from Corey Rosier to tie the game at 6 in the bottom half of the inning.

Rochester scored three innings in the top of the eighth to take a 9-6 lead. The WooSox had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the ninth, they would hold on for the victory with that final score. The two teams will meet again at Polar Park tomorrow evening. First pitch is set for 12:15 p.m. ET.
